Nick Brombal (he/him/his)
Senior Software Engineer
An inquisitive engineer with over a decade specializing in front-end web development and full-stack depth across Node.js, Python, and cloud platforms, I've led engineering teams of up to 9 people across a wide range of client engagements—consumer-facing applications, data-intensive platforms, and AI-assisted tools—with a consistent focus on performance, accessibility, and sustainable code quality. Equally comfortable deep in a codebase or working alongside designers and stakeholders, I bring a cross-disciplinary perspective to any team so we can build the right thing and build it well.

Experience
Senior Software Engineer at IBM Consulting (formerly Dialexa)
Lead teams of engineers across multiple concurrent client engagements, taking ownership of front-end architecture, technical direction, and delivery quality from kickoff through handoff.
Drive code quality through standards-setting, code reviews, dependency and security audits, and direct mentorship of junior and mid-level engineers.
Build foundational project infrastructure for each engagement—CI/CD pipelines, cloud deployments, reusable component libraries, and onboarding documentation—establishing consistent standards and reducing ramp-up time.
Serve as primary technical point of contact for client stakeholders on UI/UX, accessibility, performance, and security topics across all engagements.
Senior Interactive Developer at Publicis Groupe (formerly Hawkeye Agency)
Served as principal front-end engineer on Disney Rewards Visa from initial architecture through five years of ongoing maintenance, building a React application integrated with Chase's account management API and a custom page builder for Disney's content team.
Earned recognition from Disney's internal engineering team for adherence to their development standards—an uncommon distinction for an external vendor.
Architected and built a new website for University of Cincinnati Health; separately, restored a legacy Bohemia Beer site to production-ready condition by reverse-engineering its compiled codebase.
Established front-end code standards across accounts, led code reviews, and consulted directly with client and partner engineering teams on features and technical decisions.
Front-End Developer at Commerce House
Developed client applications for major brands including a mobile webview app for The Dallas Morning News deployed on iOS and Android, and an interactive character-driven chat experience for Pizza Hut's Book It! reading program.
Standardized internal development practices to improve efficiency and long-term maintainability across the agency's client work.

Such a pragmatic engineer; it's wonderful talking shop and bouncing ideas with Nick. Working with him has been great. He swooped in on some critical odd jobs that had no real clear direction, but he tackled the work in a very thorough, organized, and thoughtful way.

I've always wondered what it would be like to work with a real, professional developer. You know the type: cleans up other peoples' code, adds well-written documentation, takes on large swathes of work with little direction, and knows the libraries and language so well you believe he may have had a hand in writing them...
Nick is a mentor. I've learned so much from him the last few months—lessons and sayings I'll take with me for the rest of my career. I knew that if I tossed a complex problem over the fence to him, it would be immediately less complex than I originally thought and cleaned up with the appropriate type safety.
Nick is a grinder. He single-handedly championed alleviating time-consuming bugs that were plaguing our development cycle. He also spent a sprint prepping our application to be ported to a new build system. This was no small task and I can't imagine I would have trusted anyone else with it.

Nick is such an all-around valuable team member and highly knowledgeable. He works well with everyone, from the team to our stakeholders, in all kinds of situations. He has a knack for thoroughly explaining and talking through challenges, complex concepts, and practical solutions.
As a designer, it has been great to work with Nick. He has incredible attention to detail and likes to build things in a sound and scalable way. I always felt confident in his ability to translate my designs into code, and he usually went above and beyond by sweating the details so that everything worked smoothly and looked great. He came up with several subtle animations that pushed the feel of the app to the next level. I’ve learned a lot from Nick and appreciate his willingness to help me and others on the team. He even started a daily office hours session in case anyone from the team wanted to meet with him for any reason.
I've been in many stakeholder meetings with Nick, and all this extends to the relationship with them as well. He communicates effectively with the client team, demonstrates value, and doesn't hesitate to discuss challenges. I've had a great experience working with Nick and hope to work with him again.
